This is a collection of my essays.
It is October. A few lights still twinkle in the wide, deep trough of the valley below. In the south beyond the distant horizon, beyond a serrated edge of faraway frosted crags, soft fingers of gold and pink cotton wander, wispy in the dark sky.
If you're worried about the words and actions of the current president, it's easy to feel that the world is falling apart. One of the challenges when looking at the big picture is differentiating what's new from what's not.
In January of 2017, after a discussion about racial tension in America, and coinciding with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s holiday, I asked my juniors (ages 16-17) to answer the following essay prompt: What is your racial identity? How has it impacted your experience so far, as an American, or as a person living in American society?
There is no such thing as bias. When most people complain about bias, they're really talking about fairness, or subjectivity.
